What our clients say . . .
“I have been in a support group at Sage since it began a year ago. Having the support of others who have a loved one with dementia along with the guidance of dementia experts has been life changing. I have a tendency to beat myself up - and not give myself credit for the job I am doing caring for my husband. The group is excellent at listening to my frustrations in a proactive way and reminding me to be gentler with myself. For this, I have tremendous gratitude!” -Judy
“Through the classes and support group, I have developed a sense of peace having made friendships with other participants who share difficulties in caring for ill and aging family members.” -Liz
“Being a member of the dementia support group has been invaluable. The Sage specialists have incredible empathy for both those living with dementia and their caregivers. Our support group is a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels heard and understood. The guidance from our group leaders has been invaluable, providing hope and comfort during challenging times. We are truly fortunate to have Sage leading us on this journey.” -Michele
“The dementia care partner support group is so helpful in the way it connects you with other people who are navigating the same tough challenges you face every day. It also makes you feel not alone in your caretaking efforts. Excellent support resources and opportunities for one-on-one consultations are provided at each meeting. Being on Zoom makes our meetings easily accessible from home. I highly recommend joining! Thanks for all your efforts putting these meetings together.” – Marie
“What keeps me coming back? The friendship and understanding of the other people in the group. It didn’t take long to know I had found a safe place to express my feelings. Concerns before starting group? Plenty. When I first started, I never said a word for the first 6 meetings. I wanted information but didn’t want to say my husband had dementia As time went on, I found such comfort in being able to say what was going on at home. It was like a new beginning for me and my husband. Changes/improvements? I have changed a lot (for the good I hope). I found out how helpful it was to express my discomfort. I also learned to laugh at things I wanted to cry about. I feel I have been able to keep my husband at home longer than I could have if it were not for the support, I get from coming to the meetings. They have been life changing and a great support for me.” -Deanna
"I have been attending a Sage dementia support group for about a year and will do everything I can to not miss a meeting. The leader is compassionate with every attendee and so knowledgable about identifying how to support our loved ones with dementia. She provides examples, strategies, and perspectives so that every attendee can be competent in ways to help their loved one have less anxiety and stress. I would encourage anyone who is supporting a person with dementia (near or far) to join a Sage support group."
